ASK Y
AGAINST the SILENT KILLER of the YOUNG
Our group endeavours to give support, strength and hope to families and friends affected by sudden cardiac arrhythmia death syndromes.
As we have also suffered the heartache of a loss to this condition, our understanding and compassion qualifies our ability to listen, talk and advise on other links and resources that may help those going through the trauma of an unexpected and sudden death of a loved one.
Our aim is not to fundraise, but to credit the ongoing dedication of the teams of people such as TRAGADY, CIDG and the many involved with the complex research that attributes to sudden death in the young. Their involvement will be invaluable in the future, as more and more causes are found to be genetic, and may run in families.
It is now, however, that we contend with the helplessness and emptiness, combined with shock, grief and so many questions.
Some of us do have a diagnosis: Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, Long QT, Short QT, Brugada, ARVC, CPVT, Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome. Often, some of us have their loved ones death as unascertained.
Regardless, we are still united in that we are fighting the struggle within; we are coping, we are pretending to cope, we are trying to cope, or, we are not coping at all.
Often, we continue to go through the motions of life, because that is what is expected of us, but we are really just able to exist.
We are just like you, we are here, ask us and ASK Y
